Dr. Link Jaw, President and CEO
| Link founded Scientific Monitoring, Inc. (SMI) in 1993.
He has been involved in all aspects of corporate management
including projects, strategies and resources. Link has
over 20 years of industry experience in engineering, software,
and management. Prior to starting SMI, he worked for AlliedSignal
Aerospace, Link Flight Simulation, and Flight Safety Simulation Systems.
Link holds seven U.S. patents. He earned his M. S. degree
from the University of Michigan and a Ph. D. degree from
Stanford University. He completed executive management
short courses at the Tuck School of Business Administration
of Dartmouth College. |
John Banbury, Vice President of Business Development

John has an extensive knowledge of aircraft operations and maintenance issues through years of leading Boeing's technical support and service organizations. He retired as vice president of fleet and airline support for
Boeing's Commercial Airplane Group. John is an Air Force Academy graduate with a degree in electrical engineering and flight experience as a KC-135 pilot.

Dr. Walter Merrill, Vice President & General Manager - East Coast Office
|
Dr. Walt Merrill brings extensive aerospace technology
leadership experience to SMI's management team as Vice
President and General Manager for SMI's East Coast Office.
Dr. Merrill leads SMI's operations, business development,
and regional sales and marketing functions for SMI's
East Coast Office. Dr. Merrill formerly held positions
as executive director of Glennan Microsystems Initiative
and as a division chief for Controls and Instrumentation
Technologies at NASA. Dr. Merrill is a recipient of
the NASA Medal for Exceptional Achievement.

George Mink, Vice President of Engineering
| George is the Vice President of Engineering for Diagnostics
and Prognostics. George has more than 30 years of industry experience in turbine
engine performance analysis, diagnostics, and prognostics. Before joining SMI
in 2001, he was a senior supervisor and a certified Senior Six Sigma Black Belt
at Honeywell Engines, Systems, and Services. Prior to Honeywell (previously
Garrett Turbine Engine Company), he worked for Pratt & Whitney in
East Hartford, Connecticut. George holds a B. S. M. E. degree from Carnegie
Mellon University and an M. S. degree from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute. |
Pete Rendek, Senior Vice President, Engineering Services
Pete brings extensive sales and marketing experience
from the industrial computing and defense markets. Before
joining SMI, he was director of marketing at Motorola Computer Group in Tempe, Arizona.
He was instrumental in the purchase and subsequent operation
of Blue Wave Systems in England which was acquired to build the embedded
voice and media processing capabilities for Motorola
in the telecommunications infrastructure market. Pete
is a licensed commercial pilot and holds a degree in
Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University. |
Dr. Yutsung (Jim) Wang, Manager of Software Product Development
|
Jim Wang joined SMI in 1999 as a Senior Engineer. His responsibilities have increased significantly ranging from algorithm development, software development, application deployment, and enterprise system support. Jim was instrumental in the development of SMI's ICEMS software platform for condition monitoring and health management. He has been the technical lead for I-Trend® commercial software product line since 2003. He has authored texts on neural network applications. Jim received his M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University.

Dr. Asif Khalak, Manager of Research and Technology

Asif brings a strong record of applied research and technology development to SMI, specializing in the estimation and control of complex physical systems. Before joining SMI in 2006, he started the prognostics and health management team at BAE Systems Advanced Information Technologies in Burlington, MA (formerly Alphatech, Inc.). He has given invited presentations on the subject of health management and of robust autonomy at NASA, Honeywell Labs, Pratt & Whitney and at MIT’s Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems, and has authored or co-authored over 20 publications. Asif’s educational background includes a Ph.D. from MIT, an M.S. from Cornell U., and a B.S. from Caltech.

George Hays
| Mr. Hays is the President and CEO of Arizona Instrument.
He was a Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer
before being elected as the President. Before joining Arizona
Instrument, Mr. Hays had accumulated respectful experience
in management, finance, and investment. He was educated at
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
Rodney Joffe
| Mr. Joffe is President, founder, and investor
of Centergate Research Group, LLC. In 1994, after 25 years
experience with data processing and information technology
in the Direct Marketing industry, he introduced the first
mail order catalog website, Robert Redford's Sundance
Catalog. Mr. Joffe then founded Genuity, the world's largest
web hosting company. He invented Hopscotch®, the patented
Internet load-balancing and routing technology designed
for mission-critical online commerce. Both Genuity and
Hopscotch®, now owned by GTE Internetworking, form
the basis of GTE's premier web hosting service. He may

Dr. Paul. E. Brown
| Dr. Brown received his bachelor, master and doctor of science
degrees in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology. From 1964 to 1996, Dr. Brown was an Executive
Officer, an Assistant Director, and a Director of the Center
for Advanced Study at MIT. He was responsible for the day-to-day
operations and for all aspects of long term on-campus education
programs of the Center including planning, administration,
marketing, promoting the programs within MIT, working closely
with sponsoring organizations and the MIT Faculty. He also
coordinated and administered agreements and contracts with
the US Government and with governments and private organizations
in other countries. Dr. Brown traveled to over thirty countries
in Europe, Africa, Middle East, South America, and Asia on
MIT business. He was also a Member of the Graduate School
policy Committee. Since his retirement from MIT in 1996, Dr. Brown has served KinetX, Inc. in a consultative role as Advisor to the President and its board. Dr. Brown has also served on the Board of Interdevelopment, Inc., Arlington, VA. He was also President
of the MIT Alumni/ae Club of Phoenix for three years. |
Sam Hawkins
| Mr. Hawkins is a retired executive of Honeywell Inc. Prior
to retirement in June 1998, he was President of Honeywell
Asia-Pacific, residing in Hong Kong. During his 33-year career
with Honeywell, Mr. Hawkins held a variety of key positions
in management and sales, including Vice President of the TotalPlant
Solutions Business Unit and Vice President of Industrial International
Operations. He earned a BSCE (Civil Engineering) from the
University of Arizona and an executive MBA from Arizona State
University. |
Gregory McKenna
| Mr. McKenna's has 24 years of experience
in sales, marketing, operations, and development in the
information services industry. Mr. McKenna is currently
with BEA Systems - Global Sales Operations, overseeing
and reviewing organizational and sales effectiveness and
productivity. Prior to BEA, Mr. McKenna was Sr. Vice President
at Apriva, a wireless application service provider. In
addition, Mr. McKenna was Senior Vice President of Sales
for Computer Associates, where he helped inaugurate a
Services/delivery organization within CA to develop Service
offerings and eBuisness clients leveraging CA technology
and resources. Prior to CA, Mr. McKenna has held a variety
of senior management positions in startup and large corporations,
which includes over twelve years with IBM. Mr. McKenna
has a BS in Computer Science and MBA course work from
Pepperdine University. |
Richard A. (“Rick”) Tyo, P.E.
Rick’s experience spans more than 25 years of service in industrial and governmental roles across multiple industry segments, and it includes both domestic and overseas assignments. Prior to joining SMI, he was Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of a multi-national IT services and software product company. There, his lead product received the IBM/Lotus award for Best Collaboration Tool of 2008.
He served as Principal Architect for Enterprise Computing for Intel Corporation where he was the lead architect for the Asia-Pacific region, providing SOA designs for multiple industries. His award-winning work for Intel included RFID and supply chain management, and he helped negotiate RFID regulations with governments worldwide. Rick also served as a Senior Systems Integration Engineer for multiple large-scale international semiconductor manufacturing systems, and was Chair of Intel’s Factory Information and Control Systems Research Committee and member of the High Volume Manufacturing Research Committee.
Prior to Intel, Rick worked at the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), where he was Senior Flight Software Systems Architect. In that capacity, Rick was awarded the NASA Software of the Year Award and R&D Top 100 Award for his groundbreaking designs of embedded web technology for command and control systems that were used aboard the International Space Station. He was also awarded the NASA Szabo Award for Excellence in Engineering. Rick’s further experience includes a Senior Project Engineer for Sperry Aerospace where he led multiple software development teams in the production of real-time mission-critical flight control systems for large commercial aircraft; and a Manufacturing Engineer for Delco Electronics Division of General Motors. Rick holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Masters in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. |
